HUSKIE’Z TIP OF THE MONTH:
EXCLAMATION: Adding plants with “vertical emphasis” tend to break up the repetativeness of the ball shaped shrub in the landscape. Try using these types of plants to accent the corners of your home, to frame a beautiful view from a main window or to mark the entry to a pathway leading up to your front door. Plant a few columnar plants and see how it changes the way your eyes move through the landscape. You won’t be disappointed!

TOPSOIL MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE!
Did you know that much of Utah’s native soils have very high clay content? Soils are made up of three different particles known from largest to smallest as sand, silt, and clay. Because sand particles are much larger than clay particles it is difficult to get sand to hold together and compact. Clay particles on the other hand are much smaller allowing them to clump and compact forming hard clumps or clods that can be difficult to break apart. Hard compacted soils make it difficult for plants and turf to develop strong, sustainable root systems because of the lack of oxygen and water movement in the soil. As you can see in the picture above, grass tends to do much better when planted on good nutrient rich topsoil. Planting on the right soil can make all the difference.
We install landscapes of any size and dollar amount!
